@andygrove FYI this was the 2 line implementation I mentioned ;). I think there are some nice improvements already with this very simple change - but most of the larger potential improvements for some queries might come from avoiding shuffle / IO. I'm not sure if we should merge it as is or it might serve as a PoC.
