I think a good place to start would be just supporting workload identity (#3490) as documented [here](https://cloud.google.com/docs/authentication/get-id-token#metadata-server). This is very similar to the AWS [InstanceCredentialProvider](https://github.com/apache/arrow-rs/blob/master/object_store/src/aws/credential.rs#L312).
