@alamb @jorgecarleitao this is blocking some work that I'm doing on parquet, so I'd like to limit the scope of the PR to just nested structs, as I want to submit a PR that correctly reads nested arrow structs in parquet. I'm also a bit unsure if the struct null inheritance semantics also apply to lists, so I'd like to defer that to follow-ups (as I'd need to do the work when writing nested arrow lists to parquet). Are you fine with reviewing the PR as is just for nested structs?
