As I said, R seems doesn't allow to config ReaderProperty in this problem, I'll create an issue for that. By the way, to confirm my infer, would you mind print the metadata (using Python https://arrow.apache.org/docs/python/generated/pyarrow.parquet.read_metadata.html , I don't familiar with R so I don't know how to do it)when reading a smaller file?
