Just to add, Input data is like below We are reading it without delimeter in single line "FirstName"."MiddleName"."Lastname" "David"."Allen"."Brandes" "Jane"."Lynn"."Doe" "John"."Paul"."Henry"."Jones" The output data will appear like this after read_csv FirstName."MiddleName"."Lastname" David."Allen"."Brandes" Jane."Lynn"."Doe" John."Paul"."Henry"."Jones" This is happening when we even dont send any quote character. In ideal scenario wither nothing should go or first and last should go Notice only the double quotes surrounding the first value are no longer visible…I would expect all of them either to be visible or to not be visible. Not sure which is correct (with or without double quotes), but it should be consistent.
