Unsure what's sensible re Windows. I see that [R 4.2 onwards drops support
for 32-bit builds on
Windows](https://blog.r-project.org/2021/12/07/upcoming-changes-in-r-4.2-on-windows/).
Should we perhaps wait a bit longer until we're no longer supporting older R
versions, or is this too cautious? Keen to get your thoughts here @paleolimbot
