@assignUser Thank you for the summary, it is clear now. If someone builds `arrow` from within R, is it still possible without manual hackery to use an external CMake? This is not required for me (since we do not build this from within R), but thinking of any non-mainstream platform, pre-built binary gonna fail: there won’t be any CMake binaries even for 10.4 i386, forget something like Unix on mips32 or 10.5 ppc64.
