As mentioned above, I couldn't reproduce this locally, so that makes it harder to debug / try to fix. But I think @westonpace's comment is a quite probable explanation of the cause: > the scanner is still running after the `write_to_dataset` call. This has been a long-standing bug that I haven't been able to find time to work on.
