Yea, I agree there is a trade-off between ease-of-use and flexibility/capability. It's not obvious to me where to draw the line as mentioned in the [sort pushdown discussion](https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/issues/7871#issuecomment-1834580446). If anyone is interested in the DBMS-level federation, let me know.
