@kou - thanks for taking the time to provide a thoughtful response. Based on your comment, it sounds like it might just be worth clarifying one more time with ASF Legal about whether case #2 (i.e. the "general case") poses any issues. We will add a comment to the original Legal Ticket (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-665) to get more explicit clarification for the community on this point. We want to make sure we are doing the right thing here, so we will wait on merging this PR until we hear back from ASF Legal on this point.
