IIRC, SparkConnect was GA'd with 3.4, which is barely a year old and may not be as widely adopted as software which doesn't have it. As far as I know, none of the existing ODBC drivers for Spark leverage SparkConnect, which makes this a little closer to a compatible replacement. Finally (all other things being equal) we're still not super confident that gRPC's dependency on HTTP/2 isn't going to cause problems on older corporate networks. You'd be amazed at how (relatively) recently we still got problem reports of TLS 1.2 being problematic on older network hardware. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
