   1. I incorporated the information (and table!) from @wiedld  and @peter-toth 
 in this PR's documentation
   2. Added the suggestion for consolidated terminology to 
https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/issues/8913#issuecomment-2058970753
   3. Filed https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/issues/10097 to clean up 
the transform APIs
