There is consensus in the sense that I agree with @pitrou that there is nothing to be changed in the code to fix this "issue". Even though the description of the PR says that I raised the issue with my comment https://github.com/apache/arrow/pull/41975#discussion_r1638523247. My comment was referring to something specific to the PR. See continuation of the quote: > ...branching in the possible states of pre-allocated buffers based on **runtime input data** and not something statically **defined in the kernel_ when it's configured**. Kernels are bound with specific type matchers that let types like `NA` go through on some operands.
