I also think that generally we don't upgrade dependency packages (or check that the version constraints line up with our expectations) before verification. All the "easy" ways to do that require another dependency like pak or desc and those have both caused problems before. Probably we can use an R script in `tools/` to do this to wire up the requisite base R calls to have more success with R verification. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
