I should follow up and describe my use-case! I was looking at historical voting data ahead of Australia's upcoming Federal Election next month — the AEC publishes individual vote data in CSVs that are large enough to justify the use of arrow (especially if you try to look at all states together), but the CSVs are ragged, as there is a column for each party and most people stop numbering boxes after the first six (so the AEC doesn't bother writing out the rest of the columns, it seems).
