My impression of how OTel worked is that you just enable OTel and let it pick up the ambient configuration from the environment @lidavidm This (environment variable configuration) is a thing I'm going to investigate shortly. Keep in mind this would affect existing known tracer providers (OTLP, console, etc.) but would need to be extended if we introduced our own extensions, like rotating trace files, that needed more configuration.
