In general, I agree with @amoeba's suggestion. But I want to drop support for EOL-ed platforms without announcing in N-X releases. Because we may forget to announce it... If we forgot to announce it, we need to maintain EOL-ed platforms X more releases... How about using the careful approach only for maintained platforms?
