I found a way out. When I install the pyarrow package from Anaconda instead of the one from PyPI, R arrow uses the provided native libraries. The conda package pulls in about two dozen dependencies, but that's preferable to chasing more build breaks. Thanks for letting me vent. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
