Hmm, I think we should try to produce some additional columns without any variadic buffers in the [integration tests](https://github.com/apache/arrow/blob/a81e6c6015db4ab024bfd3a2d8666bde014ba6f1/dev/archery/archery/integration/datagen.py#L664).
