I like this suggestion! I suppose the meta collection should return the name, description, Arrow schema, and a list of filter options; we should also define "well known" collections and names for common filters (e.g. catalog and schema). The only question is how to return the Arrow schema; in other proposals it seems people don't love returning serialized IPC schemas and would prefer a human-readable format (e.g. a JSON-serialized schema, if we were to ever define that), but that leads to a bootstrapping problem. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
