RE: reproducing the issue @pitrou I have experienced this issue and in attempting to diagnose the problem myself, have only been able to reproduce it when using AWS STS web identity credentials (in my case running in an EKS cluster (IRSA provides the `AWS_WEB_IDENTITY_TOKEN_FILE` env var).
