I've been able to reproduce this issue consistently with the minimal reproducer shared above. Thanks @L3o-pold for it. Bumping mimalloc with the newly released version (3.4.1) and building a new wheel solves the issue. I haven't been able to reproduce it with the new wheel anymore.
