@alamb thank you for taking the time to review my benchmark results. I have done some profiling already, and although I haven't spent very long looking into the results, it's not super obvious where improvements could be made. There is actually one more idea I would like to try over the weekend, in order to avoid the double memory copy which I suspect is causing the performance degradation (vs current implementation) in the simplest cases. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
