Because we'd want to point the nightly docs under `main/` in odd ways (e.g. if the page is new and doesn't yet exist in `current/`, I think we shouldn't generate the tag?), maybe we should ignore it for now and we should just configure docs builds for tagged releases to generate `rel=canonical`. This is built in to Sphinx and we just have to (conditionally) enable it.
