I was able to fix the issue locally. In short the query
```
SELECT 1 AS value
UNION ALL SELECT 2
UNION ALL SELECT 3;
```
did not work with the dremio oss docker instance, because alias `value` is
not accepted.
Changing the query to:
```
SELECT 1 AS val
UNION ALL SELECT 2
UNION ALL SELECT 3;
```
fixed the issue. This should be a one-liner fix and I can put up a PR for
this tomorrow (as part of https://github.com/apache/arrow/issues/54638), but
feel free to take it on if anyone else is interested!
