Hi @alamb, I'd be interested in picking this up. I noticed the earlier PR (#7651) was closed, and read through the concerns about enforcing `multiple-versions = "deny"`. Would a smaller PR introducing `cargo-deny` configuration and CI checks, with duplicate dependencies set to `warn` rather than `deny`, be an acceptable direction?
