One additional point: should this assignment lifecycle apply exclusively to newcomer-friendly issues (`good first issue` / `good second issue`), or would it make sense to extend it to all issues? My initial thought was to start with newcomer-friendly issues, since stale assignments there can directly discourage new contributors, but I am open to making this a repository-wide policy if that would be more appropriate. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
