@mhilton Thanks — that's a cleaner model, and it also covers the failed-sync case (#892) and deletes. I'll rework this around a process-wide set of paths pending sync: each mutation records the paths it dirties before making the change visible (so a concurrent writer can't observe a new directory before it's recorded), each durable operation syncs the pending set before returning, and an entry is removed only once a sync that started after its last change succeeds (a per-path pending count, so a concurrent re-add isn't dropped).
