Hey @damccorm and @Abacn, thanks so much for the feedback, really appreciate you taking the time! @damccorm totally fair point. I'll test the existing external/generate_sequence.py on DirectRunner and Dataflow to see if it actually works without a Flink/Java expansion service. If it does, I completely agree, the right fix would just be to update the docs/comment there rather than adding a whole new file. I'll report back with results! @Abacn Noted on synthetic_pipeline. I had a look at the issue and see your comment there too. Could you point me to the exact file you're referring to? I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing before suggesting anything. I'm a GSoC 2026 applicant still learning the codebase, so I genuinely appreciate being steered in the right direction rather than going down the wrong path.
