@schenksj I've been looking into the native Iceberg scan I/O path and noticed that Iceberg/OpenDAL is intentionally out of scope for this PR. I'm interested in working on the Iceberg side as part of the broader scan I/O acceleration work in #4695. I was thinking of starting with FileIO reuse, metadata caching, and I/O metrics, and later looking at integration with the block cache and cache affinity work here if this direction lands.
