However, I suspect there is very little chance of such a large PR being reviewed, let alone merged, without more work done to motivate why this change is being proposed, the problem that is being solved, the context and design, describe the alternatives considered, and so on. Where possible, breaking changes down into smaller individual PRs makes them easier to review. It would also help if you would follow the PR template's guidelines. Sure, that's fine!
