clustering != sorted, so we cannot assume an input is sorted for SortPreservingMerge based on the clustering. Existing use cases of SortPreservingMerge remain unaffected since ordering metadata is preserved. Clarification- we could have an input that is _clustered and sorted_ (sorting implies clustering), which would allow us to use SortPreservingMerge. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
