   If I'm understanding your thinking, we don't need a separate ast assertion 
for `or_alter`, because it's the preference of this project to pair parsing + 
writing, such that new properties like this can fully round trip, and therefore 
as long as the output matches the input we're appropriately covered. Is that 
accurate?
