Dav - I actually started on an AIR app for this sort of thing and got
some basic commit walking done (it only works on loose objects right
now).  I actually started a partial re-implementation of Git in
ActionScript to accomplish that.  If you want to take a look or even
start from there, I would love to help out - I'd be happy to do some
of the Git AS work if someone else wants to do the UI stuff.
