We only delete accounts if they are unused (not just inactive) and someone
is asking to use the username, or in cases of abuse (spam, using repos to
share your MP3 collection, etc). If you push up a bunch of OS repos and
then never come back, we're not going to delete your account or repos.
We obviously have no plans of going out of business, but noone ever plans on
that. If something were to happen, we would give users warning and ample
time to pull clones of their repos. The beauty of git, however, is that
everyone with a clone or a fork has a backup of the repo. As _why's recent
actions have shown, if your project is popular people will have forks.
Deleting the "blessed" repo won't cause the project to die, unless of
course no one was using it anyway.
