NOTE: "raw/master" ps. I had a discussion, not exactly this but something on this line, with Github support the other day. I wanted to create a repository with binaries (maven2 repository to be precise) and wanted to access the binaries in a flat structure via URLs. The idea I got was that Github is not the right place to store binaries. Seems like a good use case to me, but perhaps out of scope for Github.
