You should use an email address that belongs to you alone as the address
to send email notifications: I use my @gmail.com address, and read that
by POP in Mozilla SeaMonkey with no problem.
If you give github@googlegroups.com as the notification address, then
either the Google Groups mail router will be clever, and send the
notification to the wastebasket, or it will be dumb and spam the list
with it (I'm not sure which).
