So I have a project i'm working on which is built on another open source project. The original code was not managed by a DVCS, but has since been pushed into GitHub. The first import of my project code corresponds to their current GitHub code.
Is it possible to mark that initial import (or some branch/tag) as a fork of the other project? How would doing so effect my current code?
