Yeah, I agree WARN doesn’t make much sense here. Also, i think we now have a bit more context on this. You are indeed correct, it’s a broken case an looks like a regression. I managed to isolate this to PR #4028, we don’t see this with that PR reverted. I think it’s still a reasonable defensive patch to have but we now know it wasn’t a hiding preexisting bug.
