Review Comment:
   Done in 18484cbdf6: both parse_req() and parse_resp() now take read_avail() 
once when eof is set and subtract each block's consumed bytes, so the chain is 
walked once per parse. consume() lowers size_limit by the same amount, so the 
size_limit behavior is unchanged.
