When an origin sent response headers but truncated the body before any of it reached a response transform such as compress.so, the tunnel aborted the transform before it ever signaled TRANSFORM_READ_READY. The HttpSM treated this like a truncated document it could still forward and kept waiting for that signal, which never came. The client never received response headers. HTTP/2 streams in particular hung until the client reset them, logging an inactivity warning every second and holding transactions open for hours. This patch distinguishes the case where the transform consumed the whole origin body from the case where the tunnel aborted it. Only the former keeps the existing truncated-document behavior. The latter now follows the transform error path and returns a 502 Bad Gateway to the client. A new compress autest covers an origin that closes or stalls after the headers, over both HTTP/2 and HTTP/1.1. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
