According to the above link: When you create a commit with a message starting with ‘Fixes #1’ or ‘Closes #1’<https://github.com/gitlabhq/gitlabhq/blob/6-1-stable/config/gitlab.yml.example#L49> and push it to master GitLab will close the issue you referred to.
