Inspired by http://goo.gl/3kGIzc and this http://goo.gl/Mdnt7G. It turns out we have to configure the production.rb and smtp_settings.rb. For production.rb, refer to /opt/gitlab/embedded/service/gitlab-rails/config/environments/ For smtp_settings.rb, refer to /opt/gitlab/embedded/service/gitlab-rails/config/initializers/ The rest of the settings are the same as gitlab CE.
