The problems were on CPPFLAGS and CXXFLAGS, in particular:

-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 triggers the __warn_* messages (anyway that message: 
 read called with bigger length than size of the destination buffer is a 
little disturbing, IMHO)
--param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -flto -ffat-lto-objects triggers the "unused" 
code to warn and fail.

Removing them will let gitlab to build without issues.
