Now that I've read up a little bit on git's storage would you mind
explaining *why* you want the individual objects?

AFAIU all *reachable* objects are in the .pack file, so any missing
objects are dangling. I've never had any reason to care about dangling
objects, so I'm very curious what your reason is.
