Hi Mark, Check out our install instructions at https://about.gitlab.com/downloads. Before running `apt-get install gitlab-ce` you will need to add our package repository to your server. This is the recommended way to install GitLab. What you're seeing for `apt-get install gitlab` is a community-provided Debian GitLab bundle. This is quite different from our official Omnibus packages in layout/configuration, but it should also work. Unfortunately, it's fairly new and I don't have much experience troubleshooting it. Give the install instructions a try and let me know if you have trouble.
