I have been fighting this problem for a while now. Every once in a while I get the following error:

An exception occured in #<PushEventProcessor:0xb5cfed14
.....
ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: MySQL server has gone away: INSERT INTO `events`

I have added some ruby code as suggested by some google searches but I still get this error.

Here are the relevant versions of everything:

Ubuntu 10.04 Server
Linux scm.bluequartz.net 2.6.32-24-generic-pae #43-Ubuntu SMP Thu Sep 16 15:30:27 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux ruby 1.8.7 (2010-04-19 patchlevel 253) [i486-linux], MBARI 0x8770, Ruby Enterprise Edition 2010.02 mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.41, for debian-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 6.1
git version 1.7.0.4

I had an older installation on another machine (PPC 32 bit) but I don't really remember having that problem. I believe I used the NON- enterprise ruby on that machine though. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Any pointers to possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
