With forgery protection off, it appears as though I am succesfully
logging in and being redirected, but I am being redirected to the Home
page as if I wasn't logged in. There is something very odd going on
with sessions (since it also appears that the session issue is what is
causing my InvalidAuthenticityToken problem.

I am not familiar enough with Rails yet to know what could be causing
this. I am giving up on this problem for now, hopefully someone can
shed some light as to what is going on -- otherwise I am going to be
stuck using just gitolite for my lab.
