You will find interesting thing in <gitorious-root>/log/production.log (if running with the production environment). For pulling updated versions of Gitorious, please refer to this page: https://gitorious.org/gitorious/pages/Upgrading. Please note that master is not guaranteed to be stable. If stability is your main concern, run from the most recent tag (currently v2.1.0).
