Hi Görkem, I am sorry about your situation. Gitorious doesn't officially support any chef recipe I'm aware of.

Maybe you're referring to my recipe:

https://github.com/rosenfeld/gitorious-cookbooks

I'll try to update the README later to state that it should be tried in a fresh Debian install instead of an existing server for avoiding this kind of problem.

But if I remember correctly Chef will keep 5 copies of backup files by default, so your original apache2.conf should be found somewhere, but I don't know where is the backup location.

Try to do some research on Chef to find it out.

Sorry,
Rodrigo.

Hi

A few hours ago I tried to install Gitorious using Chef on my Ubuntu 11.04 box, however for some reason apache2 configuration file generated by Chef overridden my default apache2.conf file.

Since the conf file was heavily edited before, my server is down now (and I do not remember the changes). Is there a way to rollback the Chef installation? Does Chef have any backups?

Thanks in advance
